Description

The world is facing a crisis and that is a crisis of credible leadership. Many leaders of society are no longer trusted, believed or respected. If one browses through the media headlines on any given day, there are just too many instances of trust that has been betrayed, values expediently abandoned, and high levels of exploitation and manipulation by immensely powerful people in society.

The purpose of this short course is to inspire, educate and develop current and future leaders of society. Leaders who can set aside personal agendas and lead from a heart of servanthood, leaders whose vision aligns with creating a better future for generations to come. It is not who you are that matters, but what you leave behind, the legacy that lives on because of you.

Martin Kuscus, the Author of the book Credibility Matters, created this short course based on his life experiences and hard-earned lessons he learned on his leadership journey. Martin is a well-known business leader from South Africa. Over the last 35 years, he distinguished himself in quite a few high-profile positions that he occupied in government as well as the corporate world both locally and internationally. He was the first MEC of Finance in the North West Provincial Government from 1994 until 2004. Before that, he spent 17 years in health care services. In June 2004 he became CEO of the South African Bureau of Standards a position he held until July 2009. From 2006 – 2009 he was Chairperson of the Government Employee Pension Fund (GEPF); presiding over a R920 billion portfolio and by then the seventh biggest pension fund in the world. In 2009 after exiting the public sector, he then started his own business ventures. He currently occupies directorships on the boards of companies in the health care, financial services, telecoms and built environment sectors.

He had to privilege to be invited to sit at the table with luminaries such as Nelson Mandela, Kofi Annan and Ban Ki-moon. He graced venues like the United Nations, New York Stock Exchange and the commanding heights of power and influence locally and internationally

As a gifted communicator, he addressed audiences in many countries at conferences and high-impact meetings. Given his rich experience and strategic insights, he became a trusted coach and mentor to quite a few influential leaders in the corporate and public sector environments. It is absolutely astounding how Martin remains anchored in humility, unquestionable integrity and continues to exemplify servant leadership. Remarkably, he exited the public sector scandal and skeleton free.

Leadership is currently laboring under a myriad of controversies and contradictions. This left many of us looking up to our leaders for inspiration and direction, quite disillusioned. This course was designed out of Martin’s deep desire to see a new breed of leaders emerging that will live a life of the highest degree of credibility in a world where compromise reigns supreme. The course offers practical tools on becoming a trusted and respected voice that can reverse the current tide of the leadership crisis we are currently experiencing. The world is yearning desperately for a type of leadership that can bring about a dispensation that is more humane, inclusive and give people a greater sense of meaning.
